Tyler’s 100% recyclable packaging range of materials has been developed as our commitment to the future of our industry through sustainable packaging and the planet we inhabit.
A SOLUTION TO PLASTIC WASTE POLLUTION
Plastics are lightweight and have reduced our impact on the planet, but in many cases, these plastics are not recyclable, as in order to improve shelf-life, and obtain good barrier properties mixed plastic laminates have traditionally been used – such as Pet/Pet Met/Pe, which is not recyclable.
These products are produced using two layer laminate and have various finishes of:
High gloss, with very good optical clarity for product windows
Matte coatings, with tactile finishes
Registered matte/gloss, to make your design jump off the shelf
Our recyclable range of materials are suitable for foods with high fat content, and we can supply pouches from as little as 50g up to 25KG sacks.
All the films demonstrate excellent barrier properties against oxygen and water vapour transmission. We also can offer a high barrier film depending upon the properties of the product being packed.
100% recyclable materials are available in Flat Bottom, SQ4, Stand Up Pouches, FFS films, Woven Sacks and OMPE Sacks.
Our recyclable materials have been certified by a leading European test laboratory with minimum recyclable characteristics of 19/20 for the high barrier version.
30% Recycled Content
As part of our continuous development and commitment to sustainability and the circular economy, we have developed a range of materials that can include up to 30% recycled plastics from PCR (post-consumer recycled).
Why…?
The Plastic Packaging Tax which from April 2022 will apply to plastic packaging manufactured in or imported into the UK containing less than 30% recycled plastic.
The tax will encourage the use of recycled plastic instead of new plastic within packaging. It will create greater demand for recycled plastic, and in turn stimulate increased levels of recycling and collection of plastic waste, diverting it away from landfill or incineration.
At Tyler, we are constantly developing our materials, and leading the way in innovation.
30% Biobased Material
Our 30% biobased materials are a truly sustainable solution, as we are replacing traditional polymer resins with ones that are derived from sugarcane production.
Our partner, Braskem, has developed a green polyethylene resin made from renewable resources that make a significant contribution to reducing the level of greenhouse gas emissions throughout the chain, whilst not impacting the performance of the packaging in any way.
