At Tyler Packaging we always want new employees to feel welcome, and we also want to get to know them to improve our team-working skills. We are happy to share that June has seen two new faces join us here at Tyler Packaging – Chris Mullis and Josh Lowe. They have both become the newest members of the Tyler Family and are currently settling in and learning the ropes.
Teamwork and friendship are one of the six values of Tyler Packaging. “As an employee, customer, or supplier of Tyler Packaging, you are part of our family. It is important to us that we create a sense of community and belonging in the workplace. A positive working environment allows us to feel comfortable and happy at work which leads to commitment, loyalty, and productivity.”
To help the team get to know our new starters a little better, we created fact files of Chris and Josh so we can learn about what they like to get up to outside the office. Within these ‘fact files’, we cover their roles here at Tyler, their hobbies, and a few extra questions to get them thinking too.

Are you settling in well?
Josh: Yes I am settling in well. I am still learning about the business and there’s so much information to take in, but I am getting there. It’s a nice environment here too so it’s been a warm welcoming as well.
Another way we tried to get to know the 2 new faces is through an ‘Ice Breaker’ session in the morning of the 22nd of June, which all the team took part in. Lucy (Operations Manager) handed everyone a card of paper with a question on (which we weren’t allowed to look at until it was our turn), and you would read out the card and answer the question. Questions such as ‘Where do you see yourself in 5 years?’, ‘If you had a superpower, what would it be and why?’, ‘If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?’. The best laugh was had when Josh had the question, ‘If you could give a person next to you a tattoo, what would it be and why?’, as being a new starter, he had no idea what to say! Lucy asked if he wanted to change out the card, which he accepted. The session was a great way to learn something small about our new team members, but also other members of the team, and was nice to have Chris and Josh chat to all of us too.
It’s always exciting to see new faces in the office. Getting to meet new people is a lovely part of work and life, and being able to do this helps us create new connections and new friends. As Tyler Packaging has such a friendly environment, we hope that Chris and Josh both settle in well and have a long and happy adventure here at Tyler Packaging.
