As a team, we recognise the importance of building our relationships internally. We understand that having strong communication within our team will continuously improve our customer relationships and the vital service we offer to each of them. This is why we take the time, every month, to carry out team building activities. We try to make this as much fun as possible, whilst not forgetting the objectives we set ourselves.
This month as a treat, we left the office in the safe and capable hands of our director Mark, whilst the rest of us went to our local escape room, Escape Leamington Spa.
What better way to work on our communication with each other, than trying to solve a mystery together and escape a locked room in just 1 hour!
We split off into 2 teams. Team A set out to find the evidence and solve the mystery of the Demon Barber, whilst Team B were tasked with escaping the castle in Witchcraft & Wizardry. The difficulty levels were on par, so we knew there would be a bit of healthy competition between the two teams, which only added to the excitement!
Each escape room had three different sections to beat. Our teams had to solve a number of clues in order to make their way further into the escape room.
It was vital that we communicated with each other and worked together if we stood a chance of making it in time. The clues were tricky, and we needed to play on each other’s individual strengths if we were to succeed! Each room posed different challenges, and every time a clue was solved, the immense feeling of success spurred us on even further. As time ticked on, the pressure was building and as the teams got closer to reaching the end, the excitement grew!
Team A were the first out. They had done it!
The evidence had been found and the mystery of the Demon Barber solved, with minutes to spare. As they waited for their peers to emerge from the castle there was a lot of nervousness as to who the winners would be. Would Team B emerge victorious or had Team A sealed the deal?
As the door to the castle opened, out came Team B looking dismal and disappointed, they hadn’t solved the clues in time to escape the castle and once Team A had stopped gloating, we had a lot of fun exchanging notes and sharing our experiences with each other.
Our team building brings us closer as a team every month. We learn new things about each other, have a laugh, create memories, and most importantly work together as a team with each activity we do. Whether its escape rooms, murder mysteries, quizzes or survival exercises, our team building boosts morale and enthuses the team, which is then reflected in our work, day to day.
